Every image on the Living Walls Joinery website is the real thing — no stock photos, no renders. Each project has been installed by UK trained carpenter Jason Alexander himself, in homes across Sydney.
“I often tell people to imagine the homes in our photos before we added the wainscoting,” Jason says. “They were just plain, forgettable like any other — the kind you’d pass through without noticing anything about them.”
Most installations fall between $3,000 and $10,000, including all materials and professional fitting. Jason handles every step leading up to painting — working closely with clients on the layout, bringing his own purpose built mobile workshop, and carefully cutting then installing each individual piece by hand.
“Once I’m done, the space feels completely different,” he explains. “It has that sense of permanence and care you find in homes built by journeymen, or in a beautifully detailed restaurant or historic hotel. There’s a richness to it — a feeling that the home has had time, thought, and money invested into the finer details.”

How do you design the layout?
After completing hundreds of installations and many thousands of walls working with interior designers, architects and home owners we have seen it all!
The morning we arrive, we will walk through with you, discussing options and the various choices gaining a full understanding of your vision well before anything is cut. Think of it as a collaboration where we leverage our knowledge and expertise to assist you design a layout for the impact you had envisioned. We aim to highlight techniques to bring out the very best aesthetic whilst avoiding any pitfalls or potential design flaws through full consideration to arrive at a beautifully balanced and proportional interior to enjoy.
How do I calculate the metre rates?
Our rates are linear metres, simply left to right, or right to left across your walls!

How long does installation take?
With our extensive experience and our purpose built mobile workshop, we are highly accurate but also highly efficient. Generally our installations take 1 - 3 days to complete, depending on size and scope.
Can you install onto rendered walls?
Yes, we have specialist tooling that enables us to install onto both gyprock and rendered finishes
How can I prepare for installation?
If items can be moved away from the walls in preparation this is a great help. For heavier items, we're very happy to assist on the day of installation so no need to worry!
